AI governance starts with a few ordinary business questions. Who may approve a new tool? What information may it receive? Who understands the supplier’s terms? Who is responsible if the output is wrong?

Set useful boundaries

Public chat services, personal subscriptions, and an organization’s contracted tools can have different terms and controls. Agree which information belongs in which environment, and make those rules easy for employees to find and follow.

Keep a record of decisions

Record the use case, the supplier, the information involved, the approving person, and any conditions. Connect the process to legal, IT, and product teams so decisions do not get lost between departments. The aim is to make responsible use part of the work, with a review when the tool or its purpose changes.
